Changes Afoot
This year, the Work and Age Trust has moved through some significant crossroads that will lead into the future. In early June an email was sent to Work and Age Trust members and NEWORK supporters outlining where the Trust now stands and the directions for the future.
It is not intended to repeat all that was in that email but the following is a summary of where we are to date.
Background
the last year on the support of the operations of the last year, a number of meetings were held that tried to establish a new way forward Work and Age Trust and the Nework Centre
A number of ideas were suggested but nothing eventuated.
Financial Situation
The financial position of the Trust required action to be taken to minimise costs of operating the Work and Age Trust and its services.
The Trust was living beyond its income and economies became essential.
The Trust is thankful for the support given by members and supporters with their monetary and “in kind” gifts that have enabled the Work and Age Trust to continue.
While applications are still being made for funding from the Charitable Trusts the support of members is important both to support those applications and provide an income through the subscription donation of members.
The Trust acknowledges with thanks the recent donation made by Trust House Inc.
Accommodation
The Trust is appreciative for the use of the shared premises with Volunteer Wellington and the use of the “Board Room” of Volunteer Wellington on Thursdays of each week.
The premises are located at
Level 3
Community House
84 Willis St
Wellington
We continue with the weekly lunch gatherings on a Thursday at the new location.
Postal Address
Our postal address remains the same.
PO Box 9826
Wellington
Telephone
The Trust is now contactable by cellphone. Roger Tweedy and Tom Law are the contacts for matters relating Work and Age Trust. Their phone numbers are:
Roger Tweedy 027 4292447
Tom Law 021 791337
Email
A new email address has been established that is free but ensures that communication with the Trust can be achieved. The email address is
neworknz@yahoo.co.nz
Website
The Trust’s website continues to be a means of promoting the issues of work and age and the means of working outside an organization. Our website address is http://www.nework.co.nz.
The Trust is grateful to Evan Bayly of X-pert Developments Ltd who has hosted our website.
NEWORKer
Hopefully, this newsletter sees the return of the NEWORKer as a regular posting.
Membership
The Trustees still see the members as being critical to the future of the Trust and its activities. It is the members that provide the core support for the Trust after all most members have in the past, or are, or in the future will be working in a way that is different from what is considered “normal” in the workforce.
Subscriptions
The Trust has generally seen the subscription donation year as being a flexible date starting from the date that the donation is paid.
This approach led to some of the financial difficulties of the past and therefore the Trustees have decided that the financial year (1 April to 31 March of the following year) also be the subscription year.
From this you will see that we are actually indicating that subscription donations for the year 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2007 are now due.
The donation is still $50.
The Trustees hope that you will support the work of the Trust, a work that is not yet completed by renewing your membership with payment of the subscription.

The current Trustees are
