A NEW Inclusiveness and the NEWORKer

Inclusiveness means openness, acceptance, and support that enables all persons to participate in the life of the workplace, the community, and the world. Thus, inclusiveness denies every semblance of discrimination. No-one is "left out".

The mark of an inclusive workplace is one in which all persons are open, welcoming, fully accepting, and supporting of all other persons, enabling them to participate fully in the life of the workplace, community, and the world. Inclusiveness to the NEWORKer means that there is no distinction made because of racial or ethnic background, national origin, gender, age, handicapping condition, or any other criteria.

The vision of Inclusiveness is that all people should be able to have their work needs, abilities and aspirations recognised, understood and met within a supportive environment.

A NEWORKer is able to

  • put the individual at the centre of their practices;
  • recognise and support diversity in meeting the widest possible range of needs;
  • seek to achieve the best "match" between provision and the needs of the individual;
  • enable high quality effective assessment of their work ethic and performance to take place;
  • develop positive relationships with all participants in an organisation or workplace;
  • develop positive working relationships with other agencies e.g. by sharing information with other agencies and organisations, in line with agreed protocols; and
  • foster an atmosphere in which all can thrive and progress.

The NEWORKer is able to engender a common and shared understanding and belief in the idea of Inclusiveness, the transitions from one worker to another, from management to staff, from staff management, from one profession to another, for the NEWORKer is able to transcend those boundaries that are placed in organisations by tradition and role.

Inclusiveness Means Everyone!
